    What are gel nails?

A gel manicure starts with cutting the nails, lightly soaking the hands, trimming the cuticles, and a thorough hand-cleaning. The polish itself is where things get different: You’ll start with a base coat layer that primes your nails for the gel, which is a special kind of polish that—instead of air-drying—gets firmed up under a UV light. After each coat is painted on, you place your hand under a UV light for 30 seconds. A glossy topcoat goes on top, take one final minute under the lamp, and you’re done. This can last three-plus weeks.

    What are dip powder nails?

Unlike gel manicures—which are cured and sealed under a UV lamp—this technique colors your nails with a super-pigmented powder (hence the name). The exact steps vary a little from formula to formula, but in general, your technician will start by removing excess oil from your nails, covering them in a base coat, and coating your fingers one by one with a colored powder. The powder is typically then set with a few layers of top coat, a clear powder, and then another round of top coat. The result? A super-smooth and durable manicure that also can last three-plus weeks.

What’s a Russian Manicure and Pedicure?

A Russian manicure and pedicure is performed using an electronic filing tool to remove excess skin around the nail bed. This prevents cutting the nail and soft skin while buffing down the nails. This type of manicure and pedicure helps keep your cuticles in good shape and also prevents accidental piercing or cutting of the skin that can happen when using nippers. Our technicians are trained to perform Russian manicures and pedicures in our nail salon and are ready to provide exceptional service!

    What are hard gel nails?

Unlike gel polish and shellac, hard gel nails are applied to the nail to create an extension, not just a cover. The hard gel is brushed on to the natural nail and then cured under an LED/UV lamp. It is most beneficial for those who have shorter nails or have a hard time growing out their nails. The only way to remove this type of nail is by filing it off completely. Hard gel nails are strong, lightweight, and look natural. They have a shiny gloss finish when cured.

    What are polygel nails?

Polygel nails are one of the most versatile types of nail enhancement options because they can be applied over your natural nail as an overlay or as an extension. They are a hybrid of acrylic and gel nails. Polygel nails are much lighter than acrylic and gel nails so they can look very natural. They are cured under UV light and gel polish can be applied over them if you want a certain color or look.
